Information Systems Technician Master Chief Marion Shawbell is a native of Parks, Arizona. He enlisted in the Navy on Sept. 4, 1997 and attended Basic Training at Recruit Training Command and RM ‘A” School in Great Lakes, IL. Upon completion of “A” school he reported to his first duty station USS Lake Champlain (CG-57) where he completed deployments to support OIF and OEF and advanced from Seaman Apprentice to Petty Officer First Class.

In 2003, Shawbell transferred to Fleet Intelligence Training Center Pacific where he was selected as Center for Naval Intelligence Sailor of the year and Chief Petty Officer. He transferred in 2005 to USS Nimitz (CVN-68) and served as CS2 Division LCPO completing two Fifth and Seventh Fleet deployments.

Shawbell was hand selected in 2008 to a CNO special project to serve as the Fleet Liaison for the Education Dominance program, a DARPA led initiative to improve fleet IT training. Upon completion of phase one of the program in 2009 he transferred to Naval Communications Area Master Station Pacific where he served as the Joint Fleet Telecommunications Operations Center Watch Officer and Pacific Region Network Operations Center LCPO.

In May 2013, Shawbell reported to CCSG3 as the Spectrum Manager and Senior Enlisted Leader. He graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 148 “Blue") in 2009 and CMC/COB Leadership course (Class 124) and the Joint Spectrum Manager Course in 2013. He holds an Associate of Arts Degree from University of Phoenix with a focus in Information Technology.

Shawbell’s personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal fourth award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal third award and numerous individual, campaign, and unit awards.
